Top mass from Asymptotic Safety
I will introduce the main idea of the asymptotic safety scenario, which is mainly explored as a model of quantum gravity. I will highlight that it might at the same time provide an ultraviolet completion for the Standard Model of particle physics. Finally, I will show first hints that indicate that such a setting might even reduce the number of free parameters of the Standard Model, and turn the top mass into a predictable quantity. Within simple approximations of the Renormalization Group flow for gravity and matter, the theoretical value of the top mass obtained from asymptotic safety lies at approximately 180 GeV.
