Dynamics of the QCD phase transition in heavy-ion collisions (PRETALK for students at 15:30 h)

For a complete understanding of the QCD phase diagram at finite net-baryon density it is important to connect first-principle thermodynamic calculations to experimental data from heavy-ion collision experiments at lower beam energies. In particular, the potential to discover the QCD critical point experimentally is of great interest. In this talk I will review the theoretical concepts of critical fluctuations at the QCD phase transition and discuss the current status of modelling these fluctuations in the dynamical evolution of heavy-ion collisions. Special emphasis is put on observables which are sensitive to the critical point and how they are affected by the out-of-equilibrium dynamics in heavy-ion collisions at different beam energies.
